Summary
The Partner & General Counsel is a senior leadership role responsible for the legal, structural, and strategic integrity of OSC's investment platform. This individual operates as a full investment partner — leading and co-leading deal execution, asset management, and strategy — while also serving as OSC's primary legal authority across all family office, OSC portfolio, and transactional matters. The role reports directly to the Managing Partners of OSC.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, co-lead, and support all OSC investment activities from sourcing through exit — including structuring, diligence, underwriting, and deal execution.
- Serve as a voting or active participant in investment processes; represent OSC on boards of investments for which this role has primary coverage.
- Actively supervise and asset-manage existing portfolio positions; serve as a senior strategic resource to portfolio company management teams on legal structure, governance, financing strategy, and corporate matters — providing the same caliber of legal guidance that OSC's Managing Partners provide on the technical and operational side.
- Propose and evaluate new investment strategies; lead or co-lead execution of approved strategies.
- Serve as OSC's general counsel across all family office, entity, and investment-related legal matters.
- Advise the OSC Managing Partners on legal best practices, family office structuring, governance, and administrative frameworks.
- Coordinate and supervise all OSC legal workstreams across the platform, including transactional counsel, outside specialists (tax, T&E, litigation), and portfolio company legal matters.
- Streamline OSC and family office legal spend through internal capacity while maintaining relationships with outside counsel for diligence, bandwidth overflow, and specialized matters.
- Support the Managing Partners on external business pursuits and strategic initiatives affiliated with or adjacent to OSC.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend business development opportunities including conferences, memberships, and partnership engagements for OSC.
- Participate in Investment Committee meetings and contribute to the ongoing evolution of OSC's investment process and governance.
Qualifications & Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school; active bar membership required.
- Significant experience in corporate law, private investment, venture capital, or family office contexts.
- Demonstrated track record advising on complex transactions — structuring, financing, governance, and M&A.
- Ability to function simultaneously as a legal authority and an investment professional.
- High judgment, discretion, and alignment with a principal-led, long-term investment culture.
Working Conditions
Must be able to perform essential job duties. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each workday), hear the telephone, and enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
