Summary
The Payroll Manager ensures payroll is processed with speed and accuracy, serving as a liaison to employees and third-party payroll vendors. This role is responsible for auditing pay records, verifying compliance with payroll requirements, coordinating system implementations, and maintaining accurate payroll records.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, reflecting company pay policies 20%
- Audit employee pay records, reconcile totals, and ensure compliance with payroll requirements 25%
- Coordinate third-party payroll system implementations and upgrades 10%
- Interpret and apply pay policies and stay current with changes in payroll laws 10%
- Document payroll processes and procedures, and create payroll-related reports 8%
- Address payroll and timekeeping inquiries, and resolve complex payroll issues 17%
- Coordinate with HR and oversee payroll accounting, entries, and reporting 10%
Qualifications & Requirements
Required Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience processing payroll independently.
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll practices and relevant payroll laws and regulations.
Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure
- At least one year of supervising or overseeing payroll processing.
- Experience working with HR/Payroll and timekeeping software.
- Experience processing multi-state payroll.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Proficiency in MS Excel and report writing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate payroll records and manage complex payroll issues.
- Knowledge of federal and state payroll compliance requirements.
- Capability to document payroll processes and procedures effectively.
Working location
This role is flexible in it's physical office location, however, candidates located in Plano, TX or Monroe, NC who can work hybrid onsite will be given preference to fully remote candidates.
Pay Range
This position has a salary range with a max salary of $100k/year for the right candidate.
Working Conditions
Must be able to perform essential job duties. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each workday), hear the telephone, and enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
