Summary
The Scrum Master is responsible for leading Agile delivery across multiple Scrum teams by facilitating Agile ceremonies, coaching teams on Scrum best practices, and driving predictable, high-quality software delivery. This role serves as the Agile subject matter expert for assigned delivery teams, promoting continuous improvement, delivery transparency, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives for multiple Agile delivery teams.
- Coach Product Owners, Business Systems Analysts, developers, Project Managers, and stakeholders on Agile principles, Scrum practices, and continuous improvement.
- Manage backlog readiness by partnering with Product Owners and Business Systems Analysts to ensure work items are prioritized, well-defined, and meet Definition of Ready standards.
- Monitor Agile delivery performance through metrics such as sprint velocity, capacity utilization, cycle time, throughput, defect trends, and backlog health; communicate delivery status, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
- Identify, manage, and remove delivery impediments, coordinating cross-functional dependencies and escalating risks when appropriate.
- Maintain Agile delivery governance within Jira by ensuring accurate workflow management, backlog organization, sprint execution, and reporting.
- Support sprint capacity planning, release readiness, and delivery forecasting.
- Develop and maintain Agile documentation, standards, and best practices while fostering continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5–7 years of Scrum Master, Agile Delivery Lead, or related Agile leadership experience.
- CSM, PSM, SAFe Scrum Master, or equivalent certification.
- Experience facilitating multiple concurrent Scrum teams.
- Advanced Jira, Confluence, Agile reporting, and backlog management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting distributed or offshore teams.
- Healthcare technology or regulated industry experience.
- SAFe or Agile coaching certifications.
- Agile portfolio or release planning experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Advanced knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, and Agile methodologies.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, mentoring, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to analyze Agile metrics and make delivery recommendations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence without direct authority.
- Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and Agile reporting tools.
Working Conditions
Must be able to perform the essential job duties. Work may be performed in an office, warehouse and/or manufacturing environment. Requires the ability to perform the following activities for the majority of the day: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or climb. In addition requires the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to noise and be required to wear hearing protection for the duration of the shift.
