Summary
We are looking for an experienced and driven Senior SQL/AWS Database Engineer to join our team. You will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL. This position demands a strong command of AWS database services, including Amazon RDS, Aurora, and DynamoDB.
Candidates must be located in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, as this is a hybrid role requiring four days per week on-site.
Compensation and Location
- $120K to $140K, + 10% Yearly bonus target.
- 4-day in office hybrid - 3100 E Plano Pkwy, Plano, TX 75074
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable AWS database solutions, including Amazon RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB.
- Lead seamless database migrations from on-premises SQL Server to AWS, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
- Automate infrastructure and deployment processes using tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, and AWS-native services (IAM, AWS Backup).
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database deployments leveraging AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and Lambda.
- Collaborate with DevOps, IT, and security teams to enforce security best practices and conduct audits for AWS and SaaS environments.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and SSIS packages; troubleshoot and resolve database conflicts and performance issues.
- Act as a technical advisor within cross-functional product development teams, offering guidance on data architecture and performance tuning.
- Monitor long-running transactions; implement indexing strategies and efficient T-SQL coding to optimize query execution.
- Support resource allocation for databases and ensure high availability and performance.
- Provide performance analysis and trend reporting to support infrastructure planning and management.
- Contribute to the ongoing documentation of technical environments and processes.
- Participate in the team’s on-call support rotation.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Extensive SQL expertise, including advanced query tuning and optimization techniques.
- Hands-on experience with AWS database services; AWS certification is highly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
- Experience with clustering, log shipping, and database security hardening.
- Proficient in writing, debugging, and optimizing SQL scripts.
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and SSIS is required.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially in small team environments.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems independently.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of additional programming languages is a plus.
Working Conditions
Must be able to perform essential job duties. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods (66%+ each work day), the ability to hear the telephone, the ability to enter data on a computer, and may also require the ability to lift to 10 pounds.
