Summary

The Production Lead is responsible for providing leadership and guidance within production regarding scheduling, staffing, quality and training.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversee day-to-day operations within the assigned shift as directed by management team
  • Direct the activities of employees to ensure accurate communications and seamless operations within the company to ensure the team is following all processes and procedures, and priorities are completed in a timely manner
  • Meet quality and productivity levels by leading employees to meet customer requirements, quality and deadlines
  • Understand the production workflow
  • Assess workload and determine if extra resources are needed
  • Distribute workload based on knowledge of personnel
  • Correctly read and understand information on job ticket to determine specifications to be performed on the job, and prioritize job tickets by due date
  • Ensure all components of jobs are available and located
  • Ensure all sign-offs are completed and shift reports completed
  • Communicate to other shift leads during changeover
  • Train on PHI recycling
  • Understand SLA requirements and deadlines
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives 
  • Assist in the training of helpers and new or existing employees with operations and machinery
  • Achieve a high level of employee efficiency and morale through leadership, positive influence, professional demeanor, and the use of sound management and human relations principles
  • Provide assistance to operators while reviewing individual job requirements, securing material and setting up the machine efficiently
  • Ensure safe working conditions and enforce all safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct visual checks of machinery and escalate any problems to leadership and/or maintenance 
  • Maintain a clean and organized work place
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school graduate, or completion of GED required
  • Minimum three years of related manufacturing print experience
  • Supervisory experience a plus 
  • Basic matching, printing and assembly skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail, along with effective time management abilities  
  • Must also be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals  
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English 
  • Strong mathematical skills  
  • Computer literacy with the ability to work with various file structures, fulfillment tasks, reports and information lookup
  • Must be able to work overtime
  • Perform all work and activities with honesty and integrity
  • Take personal responsibility for productivity, quality and timeliness of work
  • Effectively communicate (and listen) clearly, professionally, politely and persuasively in all situations; respond well and in a reasonable, timely manner

Working Conditions

Must be able to perform the essential job duties. Work may be performed in an office, warehouse and/or manufacturing environment. Requires the ability to perform the following activities for the majority of the day: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or climb. In addition requires the ability to lift and/or push up to 35 pounds. May be exposed to noise and be required to wear hearing protection for the duration of the shift.
