Summary
DAI is seeking a new member for our team to serve as an Environmental Health & Safety Manager. If you join us in this position, you will assist in creating strategic partnerships with department leaders to assist in identifying workplace safety and health risks and implementing control measures that align with sites and enterprise wide initiatives. The EH&S Manager is responsible for knowing, interpreting, and appropriately applying all applicable federal, state, and local EH&S laws, statutes and regulations this role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a full-time position located at our headquarters in Playa Vista, CA, but with frequent (~50%) travel to Plano, TX, Monroe, NC and other company locations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead site audits, risk assessment activities and implement corrective action promptly to ensure company and regulatory compliance.In partnership with operational leadership, set up and maintain safety training programs in all applicable safety competency areas. Assure training is appropriately documented, reviewed constantly to assure compliance and timeliness and maintain appropriate written records/ documentation of such training being conducted and reinforced. Partner with Learning & Development teammates to assist in this process
- Understand applicable state and federal and regulatory requirements for safety, hazardous waste and industrial hygiene
- Develop, lead and provide training for company’s incident response team
- Oversee hazardous waste program to ensure waste is being disposed of according to all local, state, and federal regulations. Responsible for submitting all required reports and fees associated with hazardous waste disposal
- Ensure completion of regulatory documents, reports and other recordkeeping requirements
- Work closely with leadership and production staff to assure that appropriate process safety considerations are practiced and procedures are planned and followed. Examples range from providing appropriate PPE to conducting a full safety assessment of the enterprise
- Work closely with employees to provide teammate training and monitor results for HSE management issues
- Lead incident investigations, including determination of root causes and development of corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Train, mentor and supervise EHS partners at enterprise wide facilities. Have the ability to work closely with Human Resources partners
- Develop and provide oversight in managing the Occupational Health & Safety program
- Responsible for assuring all facility’s compliance with all State, Local, and Federal HSE regulations including OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc
- Provide supervision and support for EHS programs at enterprise wide facilities
- Responsible for overseeing the development of an Industrial Hygiene program
- Ensure appropriate recordkeeping and regulatory reporting is in place.
- Ensure comprehensive employee and contractor orientation for safety is conducted
- Participate in and assist with the development of continuous improvement activities and cost savings initiatives
- Guide and promote safe work performance by developing and enforcing safety policies, implementing safety campaigns, and training supervisors and teammates on EH&S expectations
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering or closely related degree required with 8 + years of experience in Environmental, Health, Safety & Industrial Hygiene compliance required or 15+ years of experience in the field
- Strong and complete understanding / experience with Production/Manufacturing processes and Environments
- 5 + years of experience developing & implementing EHS related programs in a production/manufacturing environment
- 5 + years of experience of EH&S permitting, processes, regulations and reporting required
- Experience in Hot Work Permit, LOTO, Confined Space, Powered Industrial Trucks, Machine Guarding, Air Permitting, SPCC, SWPPP, Storm Water Program
- Implementing EH&S related programs including e.g. OSHA a must
- Training in Risk & Hazard Analysis, Safety & Leadership, BBS, and Continuous Improvement a major plus
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status preferred
- Must have floor supervisor mentality
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of teammates and management
- Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment

- Ability to add something unique and positive to the team
- Knowledge of print production environments is highly desirable
- Strong organizational and communication skills are essential
- Excellent time management skills are required

Working Conditions
Must be able to work all shifts, be available for overtime...including weekends when needed
The ability to work in a high-concentration, high-stress environment
Physically able to handle items weighing up to 40lbs (unassisted)
Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odor, and noise
Ability to thrive as a one person team
Up to 50% travel, including Plano, TX, Monroe, NC, and possible future locations
