Summary
The Technical Operations Center (TOC) Associate is responsible for monitoring IT infrastructure, network systems, and key business applications to ensure optimal performance and availability. This entry-level role provides real-time incident detection, basic troubleshooting, and escalation to minimize downtime and enhance system reliability. The TOC Associate collaborates with Infrastructure teams, including Systems Engineering and Network Engineering, to gain exposure to network monitoring and IT operations.
This position is ideal for individuals with a foundational understanding of IT operations, strong analytical skills, and a desire to grow in a fast-paced technical environment.
Compensation and Schedule
- $25 to $29 Hourly
- Overnight shift; Four 10-hour days; - Sunday to Wednesday; 8:00 PM - 6:30 AM
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor IT infrastructure, network systems, and business applications using enterprise monitoring tools.
- Serve as the initial point of contact for technical incidents, performing basic troubleshooting and escalating as needed.
- Assist in identifying and analyzing system performance issues, outages, and security incidents.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure teams to enhance monitoring and observability capabilities.
- Support routine system health checks, preventive maintenance, and capacity planning.
- Assist with deploying patches, updates, and system upgrades under supervision.
- Document incidents, troubleshooting steps, and resolution processes in the IT ticketing system.
- Learn and follow IT security policies, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in on-call or after-hours support as part of a 24/7 operations team.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required Education, Experience, and Certification
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Networking, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 0-2 years of experience in IT operations, network monitoring, or a related field (internships or coursework may be considered).
Preferred Certifications:
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ (preferred but not required).
- Microsoft Fundamentals Certifications (e.g., Azure, M365, or Windows Server).
- AWS Cloud Practitioner or Azure Fundamentals.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Basic understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs).
- Exposure to enterprise monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, Nagios, PRTG, or Zabbix.
- Familiarity with Windows/Linux server environments and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Understanding of ITIL best practices for incident and problem management.
- Basic scripting or automation knowledge (Python, PowerShell, Bash) is a plus.

Working Conditions
Must be able to perform the essential job duties. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each work day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
