Summary

The Manager of Accounts Receivable will lead the AR function, ensuring efficient collections, credit risk management, and payment application across multiple bank accounts and global entities. This role will play a key part in optimizing cash flow, driving process improvements, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and corporate policies.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience in accounts receivable, payment application, and reconciliation within a complex, multi-entity environment. This position requires a hands-on leader who can oversee the daily execution of accounts receivable tasks while identifying opportunities for efficiency and accuracy improvements. Experience in manufacturing, private equity, investment advisory, or broker/dealer industries is preferred, as this position requires knowledge of diverse and complex business environments.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end accounts receivable process, including collections, credit risk management, and cash application across multiple banking relationships and global entities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely posting of customer payments, reconciliations, and month-end close procedures related to AR.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve collections, reduce DSO (days sales outstanding), and optimize cash flow and working capital.
  • Maintain and enforce AR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Perform credit risk analysis, partnering with Treasury, Sales, and Finance teams to assess customer financial health and mitigate potential bad debt exposure.
  • Work closely with offshore/accounts receivable teams to ensure seamless processing and timely issue resolution.
  • Manage AR aging reports, analyze trends, and provide insights to leadership on collection risks and opportunities.
  • Lead AR automation and system enhancements, working with IT and other applicable teams to optimize ERP functionality (e.g., Dynamics) and leverage tools like Power BI for advanced reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and technical accounting requirements, including revenue recognition and AR-related reserves.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing AR team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely completion of reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and establish standardized workflows to drive efficiency in close cycle times.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with key departments, including AP, Corporate Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Operations, Sales, and FP&A, to ensure seamless processes and alignment of financial objectives.
     

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in accounts receivable, including payment application, multi-bank, and multi-entity accounting in a global environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred and will be a factor in the determination.
  • Industry experience in manufacturing, private equity, investment advisory, or broker/dealer preferred.

Preferred Skills & Attributes

  • Prior experience working with offshore/shared services teams is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and technical accounting principles, particularly around revenue recognition and AR-related transactions.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Dynamics) and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Expert-level Excel skills, including advanced functions, macros, and data analysis tools for Accounts Receivable reporting and process improvements.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret all accounts receivable data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Experience leading Accounts receivable function in a multi-entity environment.
  • Strong background in process automation and leveraging technology to enhance AR operations.
  • Strong background in credit risk management and mitigating bad debt exposure.
  • Track record of driving process improvements and implementing best practices in AR management.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities with a strategic mindset and hands-on approach.
     

Working Conditions

Must be able to perform essential job duties.  Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each workday), hear the telephone, and enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
