Summary

The Senior Systems Engineer is capable of installing, building, maintaining, monitoring, alerting on, troubleshooting, and documenting everything about a company’s computer systems, whether in the cloud or on-premises.  They also have strong understanding of networking, storage, database, software development, and security principles. The Senior Systems Engineer trains, mentors, and leads other engineers.  A Senior Systems Engineer is also capable of working autonomously, making quick, educated decisions, leading complex projects, managing budgets, reducing costs, automating, and identifying new tools and technologies. Heavy AWS experience is absolutely necessary.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple, complex, projects, long term and short.  This includes leading the engineers required to complete the projects, as well as communication and scheduling with other departments and team
  • Planning, budgeting, documenting, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting  AWS, Dell and HP servers and blades, PureStorage, Netapp, and 3Par storage, Brocade fiber-channel, Windows and Linux operating systems, Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, and Gitlab automation, Active Directory, DNS, MS Exchange, Powershell
  • Help hire, train, mentor, and lead less-senior engineers
  • Research, test, implement, and document new technologies to improve efficiency, automation, competitiveness, and communication

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Heavy AWS experience is necessary 
  • Experience managing complex technical projects, in on-premises datacenters, cloud, and hybrid-cloud
  • Has solid server, virtualization, storage, network, database, development, and security understanding
  • Creating budgets and reviewing on-going costs
  • Worked with consultants and vendors to achieve successful implementations, ongoing support, and reduction of costs
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) - Relevant work experience is acceptable 

Working Conditions

Must be able to perform the essential job duties.  Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each work day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
