Summary

The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the receiving and shipping process and workload as well as the direct reports assigned to the area.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that work is shipped out in a timely manner in accordance with job service level agreements (SLA’s)
  • Ensure that work is properly validated and inspected before leaving the facility
  • Ensure that receiving process are followed and that material is received according to contracted timelines
  • Ensure that internal and external freight solutions are dispatched in a timely and effective manner
  • Work with Human Resources and department managers in the hiring, terminations, counseling and coaching of associates
  • Ensures that all safety requirements are enforced.  Report any issues to Human Resources or Safety Manager immediately
  • Attends production and scheduling meetings and works with other management staff in concert to match expectations
  • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintain current quality standards
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
  • Facilliate new hire training programs and help develop continuous training for employees
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

Must be able to perform the essential job duties. Work may be performed in an office, warehouse and/or manufacturing environment. Requires the ability to perform the following activities for the majority of the day: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or climb.  In addition requires the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to noise and be required to wear hearing protection for the duration of the shift.
