Summary
The Senior IT Services Engineer is a senior technical role responsible for providing advanced IT support, acting as a liaison to specific teams or locations, and leading workplace services projects. This position serves as the first point of escalation for IT Services Engineers & Apprentices, resolving complex technical issues and improving IT service efficiency. The Engineer will also play a key role in enhancing IT processes and collaborating with business units to ensure a seamless workplace technology experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as an escalation point for IT Services Engineers, providing advanced troubleshooting and resolution of hardware, software, and network issues.
- Serve as a liaison to assigned departments or locations, ensuring IT needs are met, gathering feedback, and implementing improvements.
- Lead and manage IT-related projects (e.g., new technology rollouts, process automation, system upgrades, efficiency improvements).
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Windows and macOS workstations, printers, peripherals, and collaboration tools.
- Support and optimize enterprise tools such as Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Endpoint Central, Jira Service Management, and Zoom.
- Analyze and improve IT service delivery, recommending and implementing process improvements.
- Assist with IT asset lifecycle management and documentation of systems, processes, and best practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required Education, Experience, and Certification
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
- 4+ years in IT support, workplace services, or related roles.
- Prior experience handling escalations and mentoring junior engineers.
- Experience leading IT projects or implementing process improvements.
Preferred Certifications:
- CompTIA A+, Security+, or Network+
- Microsoft Associate-level certifications (e.g., MS-900, MD-100, MD-101)
- ITIL Foundation is a plus.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Expert troubleshooting skills for Windows environments with some macOS support.
- Proficiency in Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Endpoint Central, Jira Service Management, and Zoom.
- Experience with MDM solutions and enterprise endpoint management.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and endpoint security best practices.
- Ability to analyze IT workflows and implement automation or efficiency improvements.
Soft Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills for guiding junior engineers.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
- Proactive problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to independently manage projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
Working Conditions
Must be able to perform the essential job duties. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each work day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
