Summary
Data Analysis Inc. (DAI) is seeking a Business System Analysis with experience in the financial services industry. This person will partner with the Systems Engineering team of developers and business stakeholders to document systems requirements, user manuals, and Quality Assurance (QA) test plans. The analyst will contribute to moderately complex aspects of projects, working both independently and collaboratively to support business objectives. The senior analyst ensures timely delivery, compliance with standards, and proactive problem-solving to optimize processes and meet organizational goals. This position will review data quality, create new data calculations, and support its integration with and the functional enhancement of proprietary software. Successful candidates will have a mix of consulting, project management, and software development skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Contribute to solving complex business problems and developing innovative solutions.
• Develop and execute QA test plans and scenarios.
• Estimate and manage level-of-effort tasks for necessary changes, ensuring timely delivery.
• Design and document detailed dataflow processes and moderate-complexity solutions.
• Create and analyze database queries, interpreting results to inform decisions.
• Maintain documentation and manage work products in alignment with company standards.
• Facilitate open communication across teams and stakeholders, ensuring alignment.
• Apply in-depth understanding of key business processes and systems.
• Proactively identify, escalate, and mitigate risks.
• Provide timely responses to production support requests and resolve issues.
• Review, analyze, and create functional specifications, workflows, and program functions.
• Gather data requirements and document new data calculations.
• Translate business needs into clear and detailed user stories, process flows, functional specifications, and system diagrams.
• Demonstrate a team-player mentality and a willingness to fill any role as needed to support team success.
• Develop prototype reports in SQL and Python
• Analyze data processes to trace data flow through underlying systems and identify data source.
• Collaboration with data scientists and engineers to integrate machine learning models into financial platforms, enhancing market trend analysis, algo trading strategies, and risk / return assessments.
• Work with development teams to stay informed on emerging AI technologies and identify gaps that AI-driven solutions, predictive modeling, and process automation can be integrated.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline or equivalent experience.
• Education or relevant experience in Finance preferred.
• 2 to 4 years of related experience in business systems analysis.
• Proficiency in complex database query development and analysis.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality outcomes across full project lifecycles in both Software Engineering and Business Systems Analyst roles.
• Experience with platforms such as web, composition, full-stack, or similar.
• Expertise in creating advanced reports and dashboards using reporting tools.
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
• Ability to work early hours aligned with the US stock market schedule.
• Knowledge of options trading, algorithmic trading, Order Management Systems, FIX protocol, market data providers, and trading platforms is a bonus.
• Familiarity with tools for analysis such as Jupyter Notebooks and Tableau is a plus.
• Experience with agile development tools such as JIRA and Confluence is required.
Work Location & Travel
Option to work from home or work from our offices in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, or Plano. If working offsite may require travel to meet in Los Angeles up to 1-2 times a year for company gatherings or major project milestones.
Working Conditions
Must be able to perform essential job duties. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each workday), hear the telephone, and enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
