Summary

DAI seeks a Chief Legal Officer (CLO) to act as a legal expert and strategic business partner alongside the CEO and Executive Leadership team. The CLO will play a crucial role in strategic planning and implementing the company's growth strategy. This includes leading all legal functions, ensuring global compliance, and providing guidance on corporate law, governance, contracts, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, litigation, and risk management. As part of the Executive Team, the CLO will contribute to corporate strategy, project development, and promote a culture of fiscal responsibility. The ideal candidate will be agile, innovative, and possess strong strategic, analytical, and mentorship skills with a proven track record in legal management. They will also oversee the modernization of legal tools and infrastructure, including artificial intelligence platforms, to support business operations and growth.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the organizational legal expert and strategic partner to the CEO and Executive Leadership team.
  • Assess strategic priorities and support the development and implementation of the company's strategic growth plan.
  • Lead all aspects of the legal function, ensuring compliance with global standards.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on legal disciplines such as corporate law, contracts, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, litigation, and risk management.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on legal matters, maintaining effective communication and disclosures.
  • Contribute to corporate strategy formation and operationalize projects and programs to meet commercial and operational objectives.
  • Foster an enterprise-wide culture of fiscal responsibility and accountability.
  • Develop, manage, and lead the full spectrum of legal, strategic, operational, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Oversee the transformation and modernization of legal tools and infrastructure, including artificial intelligence platforms, to support and contribute to the organization's growth.

Qualifications & Requirements

 

Required Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure

  • Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited law program
  • Admission to the bar, current and continuing good standing, in at least one state.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of professional experience with the last 3 or more spent as a GC of a large (we will need to define the size range) business unit or at the corporate level in a global organization.
  • Extensive experience in complex contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Experience in intellectual property, corporate governance, regulatory and compliance, risk management, employment matters, litigation management, venture capital issues, and international matters
